About 10 years ago mp3.com was the shit. It was a mecca for independent artists looking to cash in on their musical talents via the sensation that was mp3 files and the internet. You’d put up your songs, people listen, you get paid. It was quite simple and it was really a lot of fun. That changed once corporate America started getting it’s grimy paws all over the internet and now mp3.com is nothing but a shell of it’s former self.
My favorite part of mp3.com was the absolutely horrible songs that made their way on to the site. There was a guy from Louisiana named Cyrus “The Slammer” Sullivan who sang an original song called “21 and Legal”. In fact it is a very sought after track on the Internets, if you do a google search you will see what I mean. If anyone finds it I will give you ten bucks for a copy.
Then there was the woman that yodeled the Ten Commandments…wow if I could find that track. And who could forget the timeless classics that were created in the days after September 11th 2001? There was “Try to Remember (September 11th)” by DrBLT which reminded us more about not recording songs while under water than it did anything about 9/11. Then there was “9-11 Warning” by Wayne and Liz which asked the question “What if a tree fell in the woods and it made a sound like a tree falling and everybody was there but denied hearing it, would it not be right to judge the hypocrites?” These two tracks were as senseless as the 9/11 tragedy itself but they were so bad that they were actually awesome.
Anyway the point is, sometimes the worst can really be the best and with that in mind, I have started another blog (The Toilet Scribble Empire Grows!) called Delete Your Blog. There are well over 200 million blogs on this information super highway and I plan on showcasing some of the worst ones. Hopefully it will give you a chuckle or two and if not… well…. eat my ass I guess. So without further adieu I present you with….
