So here I am blogging. It’s been longer than a week and I am still excited about it. That’s a rarity for me as I usually get into something for a few days and then just drop it. What does that mean for you, my loyal three readers (Hi Mom and Dad!!)? Well it means you’re a lucky son of a bitch because I am going to keep on posting stupid crap!
Along the way I am learning tons of stuff about blogging and the blogosphere. Firstly, it’s that I hate those terms. What the frig is a blogosphere? To me blogging means political punditry and reviews of tech gear and movies and perhaps a diary or two. When it comes to stupid pictures and stupid stories like the ones I post I think a new word needs to be invented. So today you are witnessing the birth of the FLOG. It means Funny Log. Adam Curry will probably try to take credit for this in a few weeks so standby for that.
In no way do I think the term FLOG will take off and thus make me famous. I do however think that I am better than everybody else on the internet and therefore I need my own term to define what I am doing here. Why be the ten millionth blogger when I can be the first FLOGGER? If you do not like it you can feel free to still call this a blog but don’t expect to get a Christmas card from me or any trackbacks or pings which, by the way, brings up my next paragraph.
So there is a whole lot of stuff to learn and comprehend when writing a blog flog. Two things I am reading about today are trackbacks and pings. I will only explain briefly because you are not going to understand it anyway. A trackback is basically just a way for bloggers to know that another blogger flogger has linked to them. So if I link to say , some random person on Daily KOS they are going to see it and say “Wow, what the fuck is a toilet scribble and why are they linking to me”? Then they will probably come to toiletscribble.com and either laugh or write me a nasty email. So basically, a win-win situation for me.
So…I am going to link to a few other blogs and flogs in this post and see if anyone notices. Feel free to click on the links and give them some free traffic. It’s the least I can do and payment for exposing them to my site.
Now let me get back to learning about FLOGGING.
Scribbit is a blog about motherhood in Alaska
The Pirate’s Cove is a blog about politics in the age of pirates (Arrrrrgh)
Kotaku is a blog about gaming (and I read it daily)
In Retrospect is a blog in a language I do not read
If you are the author or contributor to any of the above blogs and you actually read this entire post you are now entitled to my home phone number which is 917-720-4213. Congratulations!!
