Global Warming and Our Egos

I am not smart enough to tell you whether global warming is a crisis or a hoax. I am however, smart enough to tell you that man has an ego that needs to be put into check. Mother nature doesn’t need our help. The Earth doesn’t need our help. The Earth and Mother Nature will be here long after our species is completely extinct and they will probably still be giggling about how we thought we were of any significance in regards to the future of Planet Earth.

earth

I have no doubt mind you that our carbon output causes changes in weather patterns and temperatures or that our mere presence causes changes as we interact with the world around us. I do doubt that we have as much impact as some of us would like to believe. The human species is a mere blip on the time line of the earth and nothing more than a spec of dust in the time line of the universe, yet our egos tell us that we are much more.

So go recycle some cans and tell yourself that you just helped change Earth for the better but know in the back of your head that the Earth mocks your feeble attempts at helping it.

Yea! My thoughts exactly. You know what pisses me off? When these idiots are try to save every f’n insect from extinction. That’s what is supposed to happen right? You can’t cut it you get the ax. Mother Nature is a bitch hippy, deal with it!

We are just a blip, that IS the point!

Why should we be so selfish as to believe that we can do whatever we please with no regard for the well-being of our surroundings. We are not going to “save” the earth by being more conscious of our actions, but we are going to leave it better off than if we all walked around completely oblivious (as we have for a long time).

It’s a matter of personal beliefs about our place in the universe. It is exactly because I believe that I am a tiny part of the whole that I try to be careful about the impact that I have.

    Julie,

You are 100% correct. I think my bitching is more about how we phrase things and how we tell little white lies to make ourselves feel better. We say “Save the Earth” when we really mean “I am scared of my own mortality and do not want a huge tidal wave to kill me in 10 years because you refuse to recycle”.

Being good to the earth is a great thing. It’s just the fact that many believe she needs our help that I find laughable.

Your article is the typical selfish disgraceful human way of thinking. That has always been the problem, it is always about us, people with mentalities like everything revolves around US pisses me off.

Earth might seem big and our contribution is so little, but when you think what every one can do just by doing very simple things everyday you will be amazed. But that has always been the case HUMAN thinks one is the earth’s GOD, hell no, we are just another animals that walk up and down earth foolishly thinking we can exploit everything.

I can save earth, so do you, but I choose to care, you don’t. It is a matter of choice. And you never know what earth say or do, do you?
