art

I appreciate art. I do however have a rule a thumb when it comes to deciding if something actually IS art or not. If I can create it myself or come close it is NOT art. For example:

Sistine Chapel = Art

Random paint splatters on a canvas = NOT ART

This made my week. A loyal fan and friend known in the comments as “Cabavision” just scribbled this and sent it to me. It made me realize how very little creative juices I have in my small brain. If I could draw this well I could take toiletscribble to new heights. Unfortunately I will be sticking to drawing stick figures, posting pictures of toilet graffiti and making silly videos.

How often do you see graffiti? If you live in a major city like myself you see it about every four or five feet. Even in the suburbs I am sure you pass some graffiti at least once daily. One thing is always true when you see it ….you have no freaking idea what it means or what it is even supposed to be. Is it a picture? Is it text? Who knows? It is obviously communication of some sort but to whom? Me? Them? Us? Who the hell knows? I think the graffiti writer’s guild needs to start setting some God damned guidelines or something because it is starting to piss me off.
