Don’t Be a Douche Bag Part 9: Stop Cat Calling

Why do guys insist on cat calling women? I want to meet any woman who has ever been cat called and responded in a positive manner and have her checked for psychological disorders. Do any women like this even exist? Guys, have you ever successfully cat called someone? I am no ‘goodie goodie’ but I think it’s completely disrespectful and makes you a total douche bag.

Oh and sorry for the delay on this one. I recorded it nearly a week ago.

I can't watch the video yet, because I am at work and am surrounded by customers. But I can tell you I HAVE met women who liked being cat called. They find it to be complimentary. But I have never met a woman who went home (or on a date) with one of these douchey-douches. Personally I find it to be annoying. I once stopped and confronted a group of guys that were doing it. My question was "What type of reaction are you looking for exactly?" They all got very flustered and started stammering on about, "Look, you gotta understand we are all men working together all day long." *L*. Even the guys that are doing it don't understand why they are doing it.

    Hey there TS~
Right on with this post - I grew up in a small backwards little town and remember being so embarrassed by cat calling from the guys in cars whenever I walked somewhere. I attributed it to the narrow-mindedness of the people in the area in which I lived.

Now I live in suburbia - soccer moms, white picket fences, NIMBY's, the whole nine. When my daughter was 16 she experienced cat calling by the town maintenance guys as they drove by in their trucks! I didn't hear about it until it too much time had gone by to follow-up but I do know it made her feel self-conscious and uncomfortable walking anywhere.

Here's a clue cat calling dbags - it's NOT a compliment! Fitz, I'm not sure there's a homo- connection to this; I'd place my bets that it has to do with feelings of size inadequacy - the whole Napoleonic complex.

Danielle - I guess I can see women feeling complimented sort of. But those women, in my opinion MUST have low self esteem. I am so glad you confronted a group of cat callers and that is that is the EXACT reaction I would have expected. I think more women should feel empowered enough to react and confront douche bag cat callers.

Julie - Perhaps you are right about the Napoleon thing. There is definitely something that drives it but one thing is absolutely true.....cat calling is for douche bags.
