Obesity: A New Fuel Source?

So I had a conversation with a few friends yesterday. We were discussing subway and street etiquette and specifically the fact that people never stay to the right when on an escalator which prevents you from passing on the left. The subject got us talking about about all the things we hate on the subway and a big complaint was large people that take up two seats.

We tried to find a solution to the problem and came up with some ideas. One was that large people that cannot fit into one seat should have to pay double. I did not think that was fair. But then a light bulb went off in our heads and we came up with ‘a great idea’

What if…and this is a big what if, there was a special car in the subway that was filled with exercise bikes. These bikes would be somehow attached to the engine of the subway and the subway itself would be powered by “Pedal Power”. Not only would this be an alternative fuel it would be helping people to lose weight and stay fit! And this would not just be for overweight individuals, anyone that wanted exercise could hop in the ‘engine car’ and get a workout on the way to work!

What if we then took it a step further? Imagine if you will, huge fields of exercise bikes in what used to be America’s oil fields. Hundreds of thousands of people pedaling their way to better health while providing a renewable energy source. I think I just solved the obesity problem and our dependence on foreign oil! GO ME!!
